This may contain a *spoiler. Bad Teacher was a fun movie. It's an adult comedy that leans towards the dark side. Cameron Diaz plays the Bad Teacher and is so bad she's downright vicious and inappropriate. There's very little that's redeeming with her until about the last 15-20 mins of the film when a little bit of her heart starts to show through. The ride is rough, but its worth it.

I was looking forward to this one, from the trailer it looked like alot of fun, almost a Bad Santa but in the classroom. That comparison is unfair to Bad Santa. With a couple of exceptions, this movie is another case of everythingthats funny was shown in the trailer.Considering me and the missus watched Hangover Part II a couple ofweeks ago, we were laughing every minute with that one, but in BadTeacher, just massive expanses of silence. The character of Miss Squirrel got wearing quite quickly, and generallythe movie only lit up when Jason Segel came on screen, at least hissmall part was consistently funny.Diaz would have been much better served by a wittier script, insteadthe director was happy just to have her swear a lot instead, whichagain, wears out its welcome. All in all, this is a movie I really wanted to like, but found myselfsimply tolerating.I regret paying a small fortune to see it at the theatre, and Icertainly wouldn't recommend buying it on DVD or Bluray, whats thepoint of buying something you'll only scrape through once?

This supposedly funny movie about a bad teacher who supposedly redeems herself doesn't do anything but bore and stupefy. How was this movie made?

Buenos Diaz and welcome to my lecture, I mean review, of theDiaz-driven comedy "Bad Teacher". OK, I am not going to fire away on"Bad Teacher" but I am not going to give it cinematic tenure either. Asmentioned, on the starring dais of "Bad Teacher" is the appleliciousCameron Diaz, who is not bad here, actually she was pretty good. Diazstars as Elizabeth Halsey, a Middle School Teacher who craves to get abreast ahead of the golddigger sweepstakes by finding conniving ways toget money, so then she can get a boob job so she can marry rich.Halsey's Vomit and other unethical behaviors (showing movies in class, smoking pot, embezzling school fundraising money, etc) throughout herworking school day make her a  . see movie title. She catches the eyeof Scott Delacorte, a substitute teacher whose parents are immenselywealthy due to their lucrative watch company. Therefore, likeclockwork, Elizabeth has her new victim to somehow marry rich in thefuture. Justin Timberlake was in sync playing the dorky Delacorte, andwas hilarious in a school dance scene. Ms. Halsey's rival is fellowteacher Ms. Squirrel solidly portrayed by the up-and-coming Lucy Punch. This Squirrel teeths into Halsey's mischievous ways; and Ms. Squirrel'sunorthodox, corny-pun teaching methods might just be as horrific as Ms.Halsey's behaviors. But who am I to criticize corny puns, there areplenty of those already marked in this review. Two other performancesthat hit the B+ barometer in "Bad Teacher" were of John Michael Higginswho plays the dolphin- loving Principal Snur, and Phyllis Smith asElizabeth's only teacher- friend Ms. Davies. However, the thespianvaledictorian of "Bad Teacher" is Jason Segel as P.E. Teacher RussellGettis, whose repeated Gettisburg Address to get into Elizabeth's pantswas quite entertaining. Segel is one of the brightest comedic actors oftoday, and everything he is in gets automatically bumped up a grade. Sowhy don't I put "Bad Teacher" in the school of stellar comedies? Due toDirector's Jake Kasdan orchestration of "Bad Teacher" in the lastsemester, I mean act of the movie. He was off to a great start withsome outstanding opening sequences, but as the film went on it surecould have used some creative composition. Gene Stupnitzky & LeeEisenberg's screenplay has its sporadic hilarious comedic lines withinthe dialogue, but needed a script tutor for its redundant narrative. Iwill pass "Bad Teacher" with a C+, mostly due to its drama team ofactors. If you were able to read this pun-driven review, thank yourpreacher, because I bless you for having the courage. *** Average

I'm pretty sure this is a love it or hate it movie. I loved it, because I love the grossly inappropriate humor in this movie. If you have that sense of humor, then this movie is for you. You won't like it if you are offended by drug and sex references. But you will if you enjoy sarcasm and can laugh at the drugs and sex.I love Elizabeth Halsey and I loved the woman who played Amy Squirrel. She was amazing.

Cameron Diaz basically plays the same character in every role she takeson. For me, the only time that role paid dividends was in 'VanillaSky', when she played the psycho sex partner to Tom Cruise. With 'BadTeacher',it's now clear that that role is playing a little thin. Maybeshe's just not being offered any good roles, but taking on this onesurely won't increase such offers. The movie only avoided a one star rating because of a few one-linersand a couple of sight gags. Plot, well, there really isn't anything tomake the viewer stay to the end of the film. What you have here isbasically a series of sight gags, 90% sexual in character, which areloosely strung together. There is no character development and youreally don't care what happens to anyone in the end.The supporting cast doesn't live up to that billing. They seem to bedoing their own unrelated stand-up comic routines. Justin Timberlakeshould fire whoever told him to take a role in this movie. As a careermove, it was a disaster. In short, find something better to do with your time. Bad Teacher is nolaughing matter.

BAD TEACHER is not a bad movie; it's just not that good. Cameron Diaz plays a teacher whose dedication to her job is hardly admirable. She merely teaches to raise money for a boob job--she's self-centered, amoral, foul-mouthed--a parent's worst nightmare...but in spite of this she's somehow likeable--almost.The movie does expose the oftentimes hypocritical side of education albeit stretching it to extremes. In spite of some funny moments, the movie ultimately isn't truly funny, winding up a bitter experience.Diaz is effective in her unlikeable role and other cast members give good support. Justin Timberlake offers a humorous turn as a dimwitted love interest; Lucy Punch is on target as the uberteacher and Cameron's rival; Jason Segel and Phyllis Smith round out the cast.BAD TEACHER avoids many of this genre's cliches. There are no redemptive moments or sudden enlightening revelations. The tone is consistent to say the least! All in all, BAD TEACHER is somewhat guilty pleasure but doesn't inspire a lot of educational appreciation.

First, I don't understand why they wanted to make an R-rated movie onthis plot. Movie is entertaining but I think it will probably insult yourintelligence more than combining the both Sherlock Holmes movies did. This film is not that bad as critics portraying, I don't understand whycritics were so partial to movies like "Godfather and Pulp Fiction"etc....,. If you consider the entertainment as a parameter to rate amovie then this movie will definitely beat the s#!t out of the abovetwo high rated movies. Most of the people watch movies forentertainment purposes. Do you know what the best part is?? I think most of the people won'tgive a s#!t to what critics saying and their ratings otherwise thismovie couldn't have made > $200,00,000 and transformers 3 couldn't havemade > $1,123,00,000 till now. This movie has some unique jokes in it and some jokes which would havemade you to laugh out loudly but I've to agree that some jokes failedlike chuck Norris movies but it doesn't mean that this movie has nojokes at all.In this movie Lucy Punch did her job very well and if there anyone whosucks..... it will be Justin Timberlake.I think I don't have to tell anything about Cameron Diaz, in this movieshe is beautiful as always and she suited the role of bad teacher likeheath ledger as joker but obviously not up to the joker's standards, Ithink you understood what I wanted to say. What I loved in this movieare the scenes of Lucy punch and Cameron Diaz and what I hated is howallegedly Justin Timberlake Destroyed the funny scenes with his pooracting and I can't explain how bad that song was sung by our belovedover actor. Cameron Diaz also failed to deliver some jokes, I mean she failed tofollow the subtle approach but definitely succeeded in making peoplelaugh at regular intervals in the movie.

I went into watching "Bad Teacher" thinking I would hate it. I did nothate it, so it gets a gold star thanks to my low expectations! CameronDiaz is perfect for the role, she is a good comedic actress. The restof the cast was adequate, some a little too slapstick at times.A lot of what Cameron Diaz says in the movie is profane and should makea lot of people laugh. I personally laughed twice, the laugh ratio willbe different person to person, for example: a person I watched it withwas pushed to tears by the car wash scene. The laughs are there, whether or not they find you is up to your own sense of humor. You maywant to dumb it down a bit.As a movie though, it lacks a good story. It is a funny simple plotbasis, funny concept, but the execution is wonky. I never felt like thecharacter had any kind of arc, which would be fine, except she startsmaking decisions and the ending acts like she actually did have an arc.Everything that happens plot-wise is predictable, you're not going toreally be thrown any surprises, but loosen up and just veg out and youmight find the same two laughs that I did.

I have to start by mentioning a review I read that called out how theyrelated to the lead character in Bad Teacher...yah that would make youa masochist and psychotic. I know that rude and over the top crudecomedies are all the rage right now and its easy to see why becausesadly they are insanely popular (Bridesmaids, Hangover etc.) but thisis just plain stupid. Bad Teacher gives us one of the most unlikable, stupid, main characters I've ever seen in a film. You expect thatsomething profound will happen that will change her and make her abetter person but that never happens and then just to add to thestupidity someone actually falls for her which makes no sense becausethe character does not have a single redeemable or attractive quality. She lies, cheats, steals, does drugs, sleeps her way through men...andsomehow that's supposed to be funny? The only redeemingly funny part ofthe film is the over the top performances by some of the supportingcast because otherwise this would literally be the worst movie I haveseen in MONTHS, maybe years. I can't believe this trash made money.I am not a big Cameron Diaz fan but she has done some really goodfilms. She is better than this absolute crap where she plays the badgirl and looks ridiculous doing it. She's too old to be playing thissort of juvenile and stupid character. There's Something About Mary wasprobably one of the grossest crude comedies I've ever seen and eventhat was miles above her performance in this crapfest. She should begiven every Razzie award for giving us this awful character. Lucy Punchplays the high strong, annoying fellow teacher who is optimistic abouteverything except Diaz. Her performance at least gives you some smilesalthough she really grates on the nerves by the end of it. JustinTimberlake plays the shy and insatiably positive substitute teacher andis probably the single only redeeming performance. Timberlake is agreat comedian and its unfortunate he got caught up in this trash.Jason Segal is a master of gross out comedy but he is completelyunderused in this film and he is stuck with a character who blindlyfalls for this beast of a 'woman' for no reason at all. What does helike about her? Her violent streak? Her acting like a whore? The drugproblem? The romance is dead in this film completely and theirchemistry is less than zero. The best part of the film are the smallroles played by supporting cast members Phyllis Smith and John MichaelHiggins who are actually funny in their roles. Unlike most publicschool comedies, the kids are hardly used whatsoever but that's notsurprising giving how adult the comedy is in the film. But they stillmanage to be completely inappropriate towards children in the film.Director Jake Kasdan helms the picture and I'm genuinely surprisedbecause he comes from a lengthy career in directing Television withcult favorite 'school' dramedy Freaks and Geeks. He's also one of theminds behind this seasons terrific new comedy New Girl. I can onlyimagine he was tricked into this as was everyone else involved. Youcan't really blame the writers either because co-writers GeneStupnitsky, and Lee Eisenberg come from writing The Office but afterthis garbage turn Ghostbusters fans should be really afraid that thesetwo are writing that screenplay next. Bad Teacher is utter crap and Ihope to never see it again. There is some very minor moments of guiltylaughter but my only hope in mankind is that this is only scored a 5.8on IMDb which is still too high. Do yourself a favor and seek outsomething much better. 4/10

I didn't enjoy this movie the first time I viewed it was a few months ago. I watched it again two weeks ago, and I thought it was really funny. The first time I was expecting more, but now I just accept for what it is. It is very funny and original and Cameron Diaz plays a great part! There are definitely plenty of laugh out loud moments and Cameron Diaz is very convincing as a BAD teacher. If you want to see a very funny movie or a Cameron Diaz fan, see it!!!

The summer comedy, Bad Teacher, is filled with jokes  an number ofwhich don't quite work, but when the film works, it gets some biglaughs from the audience. Elizabeth Halsey, played by Cameron Diaz, isnot a reluctant educator who wakes up to her gifts over the course ofthe film  she's selfish, stupid, and completely superficial. Her onlygoal in life is to get a boob job so she can attract a rich, attractiveman  and if she needs to "teach" to earn the money, so be it. Although I generally don't care for Cameron Diaz, she does a fairlydecent job in this role  her comedic timing is excellent, and shedoesn't get too absorbed in the paper-thin plot to take the edge off ofher character. The script by Gene Stupnitsky & Lee Eisenberg is decent overall, but itdidn't have a strong resolution  substantially weakening the movie.Fortunately, the large and talented cast including Lucy Punch, JasonSegel, Phyllis Smith, John Michael Higgins, and Dave "Gruber" Allenhold the shaky script together. All of them make the best of thematerial provided to them and Justin Timberlake delivers a shockinglyimpressive comedic performance. When everything is taken into account, Bad Teacher has strong actingand some great jokes, but the failed jokes and weak plot make it anaverage movie. It's entertaining, but not quite worth the ticket price,so it earns a "C."

Saw this on the airplane. While the premise of a teacher who hates her students is definitely serviceable, I was annoyed by two things:1. In the movie, the teacher's supposedly brutal sense of humor was too soft. She really should have been much crueler. I think this is because the film was going for the wrong sense of humor. It was going for the shock-joke nature of comedy, while it should have been aiming at a sardonic, ironic kind of humor. I kept waiting for her to unload some nasty, soul-crushing comments on the students or other faculty, but instead she was just a paper tiger.2. While her character was well-sketched, she underwent a complete, unprovoked reversal at the very end that betrayed everything that had gone before. Quite apart from the fact that that ending could be seen coming from a mile way, the movie hadn't "earned" it. It felt abrupt, felt like they had just done it because her renouncing her big goal abruptly at the end of the movie and starting to love teaching was what was expected by the audience. But the movie would have been tons more effective and memorable if she stuck it out through the end, got her plastic surgery, and then given everyone the finger at the end of the movie. It would have been much truer to her character and the nature of the film in general. In other words, ruined by a Hollywood ending.

I saw this in theater after my sister said it was very funny and very good. I should've remember that he tastes in movies are not that good. Dont get me wrong this was an ok movie. Yeah it had its moments but most of the jokes are funny for a second and then you think...ok? Now there were scenes worth remembering, especially the car wash scene. But the problem is all the best scenes were in the trailers. A person can take all of the trailers and splice them and you get the film. Now the true star of the film was Justin Timberlake who I beginning to like as an actor and he was actually good in it. Now one big problem I had with the movie was that the ending I saw coming....Like 10 minutes or so into the movie. It was predictable. All in all, it had a kind of a good story, but bottom line is, dont buy but rent.Pros:-Has its moments-Justin Timberlake is good in it-Car wash scene-Kind of a good storylineCons:-Most of the gags are funny for a second-Very very predictable ending-Most of the best stuff were in the trailers (splice all the trailers together and you get the movie)

The idea is simply a bad teacher(Diaz) who smokes and curses studentsis dumped by her fiancé and she mets the substitute teacher(Timberlake)and tries to win it.OK, it sounds like a good comedy movie. But it fails. The first hour is bad, OK it has some jokes and some good moments butyou cant make a movie just of jokes. The acting is poorly. After watching Timberlake in The Social Network Ithought he could be a great actor but this movie was a bad choice forhim. Diaz tries to bring her career back but it doesn't work.Lucy Punch and Jason Segel are the best things of the movie. Segel isfunny person but is wasted in the movie. In the first hour he isvanished.Overall, is like Bad Santa but a bit funny.Maybe is good for a raining afternoon with some popcorn in your livingroom.

After so many movies about noble teachers who inspire their students,it was already time for someone to reverse the roles. Sure, School ofRock excellently did it 8 years ago, but anyway...there is undoubtedlyenough space in the damaged world of contemporary comedy for two movieswith the same concept. Bad Teacher pretended to do that with solidactors and a talented director (Jake Kasdan, whose previous filmographyincludes the underrated Orange County and the extraordinary The TVSet); with both things, it might seem that the result will be good.But...one moment...I forgot to mention the screenplay! That does notmatter. With actors who already proved their talent for the comedy, there is no need of a good screenplay, right? Obviously no, and that isthe lesson this horrible comedy brings us.Bad Teacher is one of those movies which confuse irreverence withcomedy. There might be some humorous potential in the scenes showingCameron Diaz's character laughing at the poetries from a boy; orcalculating the balance of huge operated breasts with her hands; oradvising an ambitious girl to abandon her plans of being a President ofthe United States to become into a masseuse. However, the poorscreenplay is not vulgar or irreverent enough to subsist with thosecheap tricks; nor ingenious enough to create an interesting story as anendorsement of the humor. In fact, the story never totally "curdles",at the same time that it is very unfunny and tedious. And the worstthing of all is that co-screenwriters Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenbergdid not have the courage to reach genuinely subversive levels in theinteraction between the teacher and her students. I think that therewas pretty much potential in fulfilling with the implicit premise of a"bad teacher", but due to the fear of the scandal in the real world,Stupnitsky and Eisenberg decided to self-censor themselves, wastingvarious opportunities of creating uncomfortably humorous situations. And I am not even talking about entering into a sexual field; just thepolitical correction from the school environment, its obsession withthe psychiatric medication and the low academic levels which aresinking the North American educative system would have offered enoughsatirical material to provoke laughs and also adding a socialcommentary to the movie.Besides, the characters completely lack of any charm. The maincharacter is too antipathetic in order to ingratiate with thespectator. I generally like Diaz's work as an actress, but hercharacter is so badly written that she cannot do much with it. JustinTimberlake is talented for the comedy (like he proved in his multipleappearances in Saturday Night Live), but the screenplay betrays himwith an insipid and unfunny character. Jason Segel is adequate on hischaracteristic role of a loser, while Lucy Punch is correctly stridentin her character. In conclusion, Bad Teacher is a pathetic comedy whose main fail is abadly written and unfunny screenplay. That fatal fail is the mainreason why I hated this movie, and why I suggest you not to waste yourtime with it. If you wanna watch a great parody of the "inspiringteacher" cliché, I recommend you the previously mentioned School ofRock.
