Feels like an affectionate remake of an obscure 1978 Roger Corman production that might have been called "Hot Pants and the Devil Driver."

This movie is about a man that tries to retrieve his daughters babyfrom satanic cultists that are going to sacrifice it to Satan at fullmoon. The movie is filled with blood, shooting, driving, explosions andmore good stuff. All this, with a hint of supernatural powers. If youlike this, then you have to see this movie. The movie can remind a lot of "Shoot em Up". Both movies are about ababy, the main characters are very similar to each other, and otherthings happen in the game that I should not say (because it will spoilthe experience). This is not a bad thing though. This movie packs apunch that will make you smile. Worth every penny!

With solid 3D action, Fichtner's quirky performance, and the ability to not take itself seriously, Drive Angry proves quite watchable... although I can't bring myself to call it good.

This review is from: Drive Angry [Blu-ray 3D] (Blu-ray) I'll start off by saying that this movie is not for everyone. First, you need to have a tolerence for Nicholas Cage -- I don't mind the guy, but I know a lot of people can't stand him. If you're in this group, don't even bother with the movie. This is also not a movie that you expect a reasonable plot from -- you need to be "OK" (and preferably enjoy) over the top movies that don't make sense at times. If you're okay with that, you'll probably like Drive Angry. My issue with the film itself is that it seemed to be going for a modern over-the-top exploitation/grindhouse type film (something like Planet Terror, the Crazy 88's scene in Kill Bill, or Machine Girl), but it just never reaches that level. Reading the amazon.com editorial review on the product page, it sounds like this is one of the most over-the-top films out there, filled with insane explosions, sex and violence throughout. There are parts in it that just fall flat or could have been so much better. Overall I'd give it about a 3.5/5 for the movie. If you're going to make a movie like that, you've gotta go "all out" as the storyline alone isn't going to win any awards. Would a "toned down" Planet Terror be as entertaining? The 2-disc Blu-Ray 3D combo contains a 3D Blu-Ray (3D-only) with no extras and a Blu-Ray 2D with commentary, deleted scenes and more. Somewhat plain for a newer release, and I would have liked to see some more behind the scenes stuff than what's on it.Both discs are in 1080p, 1.78:1 and have DTS-HD Master Audio which sounds great! The 3D in this movie works well -- it was filmed natively in 3D (meaning it wasn't shot in 2D and converted) so it looks much more natural and shows more depth. I didn't find any ghosting in it, but I'm using a newer 3DTV (Panasonic DT30). Most of the movie uses depth - different layers seeming to go deep into the TV, but there are quite a few "pop out" scenes (including the usual gimmicks you're used to, like flipping a coin up towards the camera so it flies towards you). I thought these made the 3D presentation even more enjoyable, and it was nice to see them use a number of these throughout (opposed to just depth, and 1 or 2 popouts in the movie). The 2D presentation also looks very good, but if possible you'll want to watch it in 3D.

1969 Riviera...curse, curse, curse...'70 Charger (440 cid, yaaaa!)... curse, curse, curse...nude females... curse, curse, curse...shoot out... curse, curse, curse...Charger out runs cops... curse, curse, curse...females fight... curse, curse, curse...Charger shot to pieces (boooooo!)...curse, curse, curse...'70 Chevelle SS...curse, curse, curse...explosions...curse, curse, curse...SS burned up...curse, curse, curse...bad guys die...curse, curse, curse...driving '57 Bel Air back to Gehenna (appropriately so).Or, Grandpa escapes from Hades to save baby granddaughter from infant sacrificing cult leader while being chased by police and the grim reaper. Picks up beautiful blonde side kick who helps whip the bad guys and takes care of infant after reaper escorts gramps to the pit.Too much foul language, several unimaginable gun fights, loads of fun pyrotechnics, interesting computer generated graphics, and several really dumb matrix-inspired wire stunts. Oh ya, and Nicholas Cage is the arsenal weilding grampy. (Hope Cage will soon resolve his IRS-tax problems and get back to making blockbusters...and not this odd stuff!) Here the cars are the stars! If you like American muscle cars: mute this flick (except from the road scenes that showcase the motors' roar), and read a book...

'Drive Angry' is all over the road.

Well didn't know what to expect from Mr Cage. His movies of late havebeen hit or miss. This one looked good from what I had seen of thetrailers. When it came on on DVD for rental, a snatched it up.Pleasantly surprised by the action and humor. Man escapes hell to savehis grand-daughter while most try to stop him. The woman who he choosesto help him with this task helped carry this movie. If you like shoot em up movies with car chases and dark humor thiswould be a fun movie for you. Original shot as a 3-D movie, there areseveral places that you can tell where made to take advantage 3-Dfilming. They still look cool on a 2-D plasma though. The only downside to this movie was not being comfortable with my teenkids watching this due to the sex scenes and nudity. I had pre-screenthe rental first, and decided it was an adult movie only.

Me and some friends watched the DVD version, so I cannot tell how the3D effects look. But the movie was very, very entertaining. Okay theplot is a little weak, but the action is cool. The cars and girls arehot and the story is basically told in one-liners. The violence is allover and people die in, well, creative ways so to say.In the Grindhouse genre, plot or story are not that important. Mostlyit's cheesy stuff. Character development is almost zero too. But like Isaid watch this movie for entertainment, not for the solid screenplaysor whatever. The action is solid, lots of car chases and funny moments, guns and nudity complete this flick in a good way.I would recommend it to people who like movies like 'Machete' or 'Onceupon a time in Mexico'.

I have had as much over exposure to the bad Nic Cage movies (Sorcerer's Apprentice, Ghost Roder, Wicker Man, et al), but this my friends is an example of so good it's legendary. If you enjoy great bad movies this is a tour de force.

Mess of crummy ideas slapped together into a semi-coherent feature film...The "it's so bad it's good" argument can only account for a tiny portion of the film. After that, it's all just genuinely bad.

I was dragged to this by my mates. This is possibly the WORST movie Ihave ever seen. Don't even waste your money. I don't know what is goingon with Nicholas Cage. After years of rubbish, he redeemed himself forme with Bad Lieutenant, and then he goes back to this nonsense. He hasno shame. This movie plays into every cliché in the book and poorly atthat. Clichés can work if they are done well, but everything about thisdross is offensively bad.Did he not read the script?? There is not one piece of decent dialoguein the whole thing. I think Nicholas Cage must be a really dumb assperson with no brain to see a script like this and agree to do it. Whatlittle respect I had for him is gone. He's clearly an idiot.

This is a really sick movie. Lot of gore, foul language, limbs torn off, offensive in more ways than you can count. Pointless destruction from the beginning to the end.Nicholas Cage is a good actor and has made many good movies, just one example being Lord of War. In this movie he is good, but just about every person in the movie gets killed before the end of the movie. It is a fantasy, but why is the devil Accountant? What is the devil worship anyway? Why are they trying to kill the child? Nicholas Cage's character kills countless number of people in order to save a single baby. How does that make any sense? Each to his own I guess. For me I just did not like this movie.

Is it good? It's hard to say.

Nicholas Cage nowadays reads about at most one line in a script beforehe accepts it. We all know that, but how the producer got Amber Heardand David Morse (whose character is completely unnecessary, waste ofMorse's talent) to sign up for this is beyond my knowledge."Drive Angry" is the most strange movie I've witnessed in a long time -still it wasn't strange in a way that makes you want to stop the movie, more in a way like "Haha that doesn't make any sense, I have to keepwatching." Or maybe it's just me feeling like that sometimes. Oh well.Cage plays Milton, a man from hell seeking revenge for his brutallykilled daughter. Heard plays.. well, a pretty normal American girl, except that her temper is slightly above average. Two completelydifferent characters that ends up in a car together through thisconversation:"I don't pick up hitchhikers, you know." "I wasn't stickin' out my thumb." (gets into car)Then some scenes later, it goes something like this:"Piper... I won't lie to you. It's going to be rough. Are you sureabout this?""My whole life's been nothing but waiting. Waiting for it to meansomething. Now it means something. I'm with you til' the end."The movie contains so many cheesy lines it makes it funny. The action-and killing scenes are so unrealistic you will at least a few timesburst up laughing. At least the ones involving "The Accountant", playedby William Fichtner. You know, he's one of those characters impossibleto kill, walking around in a suit with a FBI-badge disguised as a coin, you know? The cliché-one liners saves the movie so many times theyshould consider adding "Comedy" as another genre. It plays with therules of mother nature, it contains completely necessary explosions, and lots of muscle cars.Apart from this being a movie not made for sense-making, I stillrecommend you to jump into that Chevelle 454, and go with Milton andPiper as far from the Academy Awards as possible. As I said, the movie is saved by the one liners."Give me one good reason I shouldn't shoot you in the face.""I'm driving."I rest my case. Watch this movie. 6,5/10.

You have to know going in - this is a bad movie. Of course, it's supposed to be. I didn't expect much, when I plunked down the cash for the 3D movie ticket. I was surprised to have one of the best cinematic times I've had in the last year. The driving stunts are awesome, the acting and dialogue...well, it's what you'd expect from an homage to bad '70s drive-in movies. Gratuitous sex and violence, kick-ass (if unbelievable) action, Amber Heard... This might just be the most perfect guy movie since 'Rambo'.

I really wanted to watch this movie as I had waited a while. The titlejust felt like a movie I would enjoy...man was I disappointed. Thismovie had literally no script, awful acting from Nicholas Cage andhorrible nonsense graphics. I usually watch many movies regardless oflanguage whether it be English, french, Indian, German, etc but thismovie reminded me of a couple of Bollywood movies I watched which hadthe same main actor in all those movies. His name is Akshay Kumar checkout his movies and you will see the exact point I am trying to make. Soif anybody loves having a hydrogen tank on a truck driven by a guycausing mayham and who is able to walk out of the truck while it iscrashing and stand on another car without a slight hitch then check outAkshay Kumar movies because they are performed better. Expect a lot ofsex, nudity and bullshit. Prior to watching this movie I suggest youleave your brains completely out of the room. I give it a 4 out of 10

I do not remember seeing such a bad movie in the past years. I wassurprised to see Nicholas Cage in such a bad movie and his acting ispoor not to say sad. The dialogs are shallow, boring and unnatural. Theactors are badly directed. There is a constant feeling that the actorsdo not believe on what they are doing. The makeup in some scenes isleveled to a trash movie. 100% disappointment and my expectations werenot high at all. From the beginning to the end I felt veryuncomfortable on the seat, looking at the clock every ten minutes. Irecommend you stay away from this movie if you expect the minimumaccepted for the less thinking living beings and if you have somerespect to Nicholas Cage work. Total disaster.

No Stars if possible. This movie shows no Morals what so ever. I like NIcholas Cage's acting but this movie is horrible. If you have no morals than you probably would like this. But me, it had too much I don't give a f#** attitude, which I don't like! Is this what the world is coming to. I wish they'd make some good clean action movies that wouldn't be bad if the kids walked in the room.

This review is from: Drive Angry (DVD) Not a big Nicolas Cage fan, but I absolutely loved drive angry. Very fast paced with enough action for any adrenaline junkie.

When I first heard about this film, I had had very interested. Then Ilooked at screenshots and watch the trailer. Even then I realized thatthis movie will be silly and frivolous but I hope to remain a qualityaction and excellent 3-D. It's sad, but the film ultimately proved tobe very boring and hardly entertaining. Almost the entire movie on thescreen is the same: Nicolas Cage shoots, swearing, drinking, riding ina car... And so, beginning with the opening credits until the finale.Amber Heard is very pretty actress, but she absolutely can not act, herdialogues is terrible stupid. And Cage... O Lord, Nicolas Cage acts inthe film so bad that's not even funny in the end it becomes. WilliamFichtner is the only person who act well in all movie, butunfortunately he has a small amount of time. Montage, special effectsare terrible. Already in 2011, we could do something much better. Alltoo cartoon, so much so that hurts the eyes.I do not recommend youwatch this film, even in 3-D
