For me there are several kinds of movies. One of them are blockbusters, which are most of the time brainless visual feast, something you enjoywatching and something you don't nitpick every little detail (like "ah,this is so unbelievable" or "yeah, not very likely to happen...").Michael Bay is the top director in this category. He knows how toentertain and he is a visual master. I don't see how anyone can denythat. The Transformers movies are not something where I'm relying heavily onplot and script. And believe me, you will hear about "ridiculous storyline", "why didn't this one do that in the previous films" and more. But all I ask of you is this: what is it that you look for in a summerblockbuster movie? The CGI is getting better and better. This is reallyspectacular in 3D and the noise ... wow! It's amazing! I'm predictingthis film to be the second most popular film of 2011 (after HarryPotter of course) and the reason is that it deserves it. There is ascript, and the funny part is that I thoroughly enjoyed it. I love theone-liners the characters shout at each other, I think Shia is a greatactor and we got a new female lead who is a lot more believable thanMegan Fox was. Even big names like Frances McDormand and John Malkovichare added to the mix and make this more enjoyable. It may be easyacting in front of "nothing" (i.e. the robots added later) but thebelievability of it is a lot stronger here than in many other films.Jabolonsky's music is powerful, cinematography is great, cgi isperfect, acting is believable, you will laugh, you will be excited andyou will enjoy it.Give in and let go ... enjoy this visual feast for it will blow yourmind. Totally worth the money. I'm 40 yrs old and my 14 yr old daughteragrees with me :-)

The transformers franchise has always been one I've expected to involvegreat movies. Until now it has just scrapped through with the previousto movies, but the 3rd movie in the trilogy is average to say theleast, if it were not for the amazing graphics i probably couldn'treview it as i would have left (like i saw one or two people do) It ishard to watch Shia LeBeuof run around on screen for nearly 3 hourswithout wanting to bang your head against something. Maybe i expectedto much from the movie due to great advertisement. Transformers fanswill go see it even if it is bad. But non-transformer maniacs i begyou, wait for the DVD release and RENT it from your local DVD store andsave yourself some of your hard earned dollars. For a more extensivereview of the film visit my blog http://jperusic.blogspot.com/ whileyour there you can even vote for your most wanted movies, view pollrankings of movies from past years and much more.

OK, I am not in the demographic for this movie. I'm 61. The nightstarted off poorly with my finding out I had only requested one pass, not two as usual. I at first felt bad that my wife had no ticket. Sheencouraged me to go ahead and see the movie. She got off easy. The movie, in 3-D, started off with a close up of Rose Huntington-Whiteley's butt. Now, Rose is not an actress, but she is a Victoria'sSecret model, so she has a cute butt. And the movie is PG 13 so youwon't see too much of Rose, just enough to keep males interested. Andthis movie is geared to 12 year old males. Stupid 12 year old males. The directing was muddled, the cast of many good actors(FrancesMcDormand, John Turturo, and John Malkovich, etc.) was wasted. Thereare more holes in the plot than there are in a large Amish baby Swisscheese. When the main story is already a comic book, then the rolesshould be played straight, not as a camp farce like Batman on TV. Andspeaking of the story, I know you have to have good and evil, veryblack and white for kids-but is it too much to ask to have a story thatdoes not rely on every cliché ever written or spoken. "We only have onechance at this shot." "We only need one." Seriously? The parents areplayed as a joke. A bad joke. Why do the Decepticons spit when theyscream loudly at the hero? A reddish fluid comes out of their mouths asthey yell at whoever is in their grasp. The movie does move fairlyquickly but lasts too long at 154 minutes. Things do blow upspectacularly and Chicago gets trashed thoroughly. So if you arelooking for 2 12 hours of air conditioning with popcorn, or you're anot too bright 12 year old who has not seen too many movies, this filmis for you. For the rest of you who want to see a good action adventureSF film, go see "Super 8". Even with a weak ending it is a much bettermovie.

I really enjoyed this one non stop action and humor throughout the movie. The visuals are top notch and even some darker moments in the movie too. Excellent for a long movie had my attention all the way through. Could had a better finale but, well worth the time there! I recommend this one thumbs up!

Transformers 3 is a miracle. It has everything you could hope for in asummer film. There were times when I wanted to stand up and cheer (Idid sit and cheer or clap twice in the film) and there were times whenmy voice box wouldn't work so my shocked and awe functions wererelegated to my eyes bulging like I was on Ecstasy and my mouth wasagape like I was lining up to have someone throw an M&M in my mouth. There were times when I laughed when no one else did (Sam's interviewwith Malkovich and when just a few notes of Sweet Emotion played, justlike it did in Armageddon). There were times that I laughed wheneveryone else did (the two New York mini robots doing pretty muchanything got me and the audience all giddy). And then there were timeswhen I just sat back, glasses on, blinding light from the screen, crispand precise sound emanating from the 100 or so speakers, and just tookit all in, and thought to myself, "this is why I love movies". This iswhy I go to the theater. My favourite films take me to another world. Aworld of infinite possibilities. When I watched Terminator 2, I believed that liquid metal was real. Iwas convinced that it could take the shape of a Vasquez from Aliens andstab a man while he was drinking a carton of milk.In Jurassic Park, I was in that park with the kids and with Malcolm andwith the lawyer and the director of Ghandi. Tyrannosaurus Rex was realand so were the raptors before they started playing basketball inToronto. In Armageddon, I knew that Bay really went to a giant asteroid and shoton location. He really did take Bruce and Ben and William with him. Ithad to be real because the worlds that they inhabit felt real. And that's not even mentioning some of the big guys like Star Wars andLOTR and Matrix and many others. The worlds that can be created takeyou places. They remind you that with a little imagination, a lot ofhard work and a letting a little bit of the kid in you come out, youcan creates anything. Bay's Transformers 3 is a brilliant and worthy addition to theseworlds. There isn't one frame of this film that feels fake. There's notone shot that wasn't laboriously coddled over. It's truly a remarkablefilm and even though I'm not a huge proponent of 3D, here it absolutelyworks. The base jumping scene will go down, imo, as one of the all timemost amazing scenes ever filmed. It's just remarkable that Bay could dowhat he did.The film has a very fresh story which is also a bit surprising as itkind of rehashes the story from part two. But when you can get Kennedy, the moon landing, Cheronobyl, the destruction of downtown Chicago, themiddle east problems and a plethora of other issues all rolled into onefilm, it just feels fresh. My favourite part of Transformers, even more the mind blowing spectacleof watching them transform, is Sam Witwicky. His character is essentialto the film and he is the glue that holds it all together. The first 15minutes or so is all exposition. They go to the moon and discover thecrashed Transformer there and it is a very well done beginning. Butwhen Sam finally gets on screen you feel a sense of relief. Hismannerisms, his idiosyncratic ways and his entire ethos is what makesthe Transformer films so much fun from the human side. Here, he hasgrown up. He is disgruntled as he feels he should have some cushy, wellpaying government job seeing as he saved the world twice. But he isunemployed and looking for work. His new girlfriend is hot, obviously, but she is a nice addition to the film. Her story arc could not havebeen done with Mykala as his girlfriend, so it was written well. Cameosby John Malkovich and Ken Jeong are played strictly for laughs and theydo it well, especially Jeong who's a short and sneaky man working inMalkovich's company. He had some of the best early laughs.Adding to the mix is newcomer Frances McDormand. She plays a caricatureof a bitchy CIA agent who is way too full of herself but really hasn'ta clue what she is doing. This part is not played for laughs as sheinsults Sam and Optimus at every chance she gets. It's also nice to seethat Coen's alumni McDormand, Malkovich and John Turturro are all inthis film. They even share some screen time together (not all threetogether).Without getting into the story, to avoid spoilers, just suffice to saythat everything you want and expect from a Transformers film is hereand many of the things people complained about in the second one arenot. Gone are the Transformer balls, leg humping and the supposedracial stereotypes of the twins. Replacing that is more subdued andwell placed humour. Even the sheer emotion is magnified in the film asthe last 30-45 minutes will leave you breathless and exhausted. And theonly spoiler I will mention is my favourite line of the film is whenRosie tells Megatron that he will be used like he is the Sentinel'sbitch.Transformers 3 is a like a ride at the amusement park. It can leave youbreathless, queasy and exhausted. But you know that once you get offyou just feel like going back on again.9/10

OK. This was a "Look how great I am" movie from Michael Bay.Don't get me wrong it was a OK movie. Plenty of action, lots of goodeffects but the absence of a good storyline and the addition of RosieHuntington-Whiteley as the Shia LaBeouf love interest ruined the moviefor me. Sure, she's good looking (after having her scantly clad introthrown in our faces) but unless you want her to pout, can't really act.Movie would have been a lot better if they had just written out theMegan fox replacement role altogether.I hope the next movie (a reboot if rumours are right) has more robot vsrobot, less marines, no eye candy for the sake of eye candy and aperhaps a storyline that is not going to make me want a lobotomy .

Sorry, this just didn't bring much new over the first two. I think I'm just too old. I'm 37. My 5 year old son loves these movies. I am a little tired of the pin-up girl in the movies. The new chick is just there....not much on what happened to Mikela, who I actually missed. At least with her, the history could have made you care. The new gal has bright lipstick on in the most intense part of the battles. Sorry, just too much for me. Give me a Sara Conner from terminator. You can still put a "hottie" in there but make her a bit more believable and not so wimpish. Shia did a good job as usual. He didn't glam it up, you saw true blood, sweat and tears in his acting. Left still loving Bumblebee, our favorite. Patrick Dempsey also very believable and did a great job. I'm glad I had a coupon for the tickets, it's just not worth it the 3rd time around.

A very painful three hours, the action and visuals were amazing but the story was dry and just sucked. The new female couldn't act, but was just a pretty face, Megan Fox did a better job. The other two movies were so much better, don't waste your money wait for it at the Redbox!!!!

Unfortunately, I didn't: I sat through the whole film. Excruciating. You'll need plenty of aspirin to get through the first half of thisstinker. If you u-n-w-i-s-e-l-y choose to see it through to the end, bring arsenic. Here's what I liked about the film: I am a fan of Transformers, so Ihad to see it.Here's what I disliked about the film: the acting was mediocre, atbest, as the film was poisoned by the failure to convey the slightestamount of chemistry between Shia LaBeouf and Rosie AliceHuntington-Whiteley. Pathetic. The story--if there is a story--wasincoherent. If you feel the need to visit the restroom you won't miss athing, unless you want to reminisce the musical score from Inception orthe many ripped-off lines from Star Trek. Even the special effects wereruined by the stiff neck I received from keeping my head pointedstraight ahead for 157 minutes in order to see clearly through the 3Dglasses.This epic fail is 2 hours and 37 minutes too long. Shame on you MichaelBay!

We've come full circle and Michael Bay never realized that if he didn'tsell out to market toys, sell drinks, and make a buck at every corner,he could have still made a load of cash and turned out a great productas well. The scene where the bird-like Decepticon murdered the familyshows the kind of horror and menace that he could have built into eachfilm and each Decepticon to make them true villains. Megatron couldhave become a menace in the same class as other historic on screenvillains....instead, he was a mostly absent figure throughout 3 filmsthat said some mean things, yet was completely incapable of everappearing as more than a stumbling fool that was only a danger toanyone because he was so large. I doubt that anyone looked at the duelat the end of the film with any emotion that they were trying todestroy a truly evil villain......just some big Decepticon that maderandom appearances and couldn't really be taken seriously as a threat.Vader was a serious threat in Star Wars because he kicked therebellion's rear in Empire.....the Decepticons never came close to anEmpire moment. The opening 5 minutes of the first film, and scarce moments of the 3rdfilm were the only fulfilling scenes of the entire trilogy when it wasobvious that if each of the films followed that tone, that we couldhave had some special storytelling of good and evil on ourhands....instead, we were bombarded with teenybopper scenes to getlaughs, and ghetto speech to get the people that are going to makeIdiocracy come to pass do their best LOL.This movie drug along for a good while with nothing but the weak humancharacters trying to carry a flimsy mystery tale. Every time you'dthink you were about to settle in to a serious film with terrifyingconsequences, Turturro's character (the most annoying character in filmsince Jar Jar Binks)was in the way again of any kind of plotdevelopment...it just drove home the point that Bay wanted to make somany factions happy that he completely lost his way and produced a lotof drivel dressed up with cool special effects and visuals. You willonly enjoy this if you don't like thinking and you can tolerate heavydoses of stupid jokes and idiot humor. This movie had promise, but missed, as did the entire series...sadlysome potentially awesome villains were reduced to tools that couldn'ttake over a city, much less the planet. How is it the Decepticonswhipped the Autobots right off of their own planet, but when they hadthem incredibly outnumbered in 2 of 3 films they never stood a chanceat defeating them? How is it that their armor is basically like sodacan aluminum when fired at by human machine guns in some scenes? Humansoldiers taking down multi-ton killing machines with parachutes is athreat to humanity? Hopefully someone in touch with the darkerpotential of the series can reboot it and give us what it might havebeen.

You can enjoy the third Transformers movie quite a lot. Michael Bay didnot have to listen to the criticism, but he did. You don't get aresolution on issues that concern the second Transformers movie, butthe movie has reasonable gaps in its story. I'm assuming you have seenboth prior installments, so I'm not considering talking about themspoilers.Megan Fox prominently has taken off. Reasons for that are not entirelyclear, but I guess she wanted to move along. What's good is that it isresolved and mentioned in the movie. But is is really story you arelooking for here? I can't speak for how much liberties Bay takes withthe Transformers franchise. But I can say that he filmed this morecoherent than the last one. The jokes are still there, but he toned afew things down (thankfully) and made the action scenes look better.Plus I could actually understand and see who was who in the shot. Not superior to the still best part in the series (the first one thatis), but a return to action a la Bay, without much to think about. Istill would have loved it, if they put a "3" after Transformers. It'dbe a nice touch to the title, especially considering the 3-D that isused (which is used in a nice way too).

"Transformers: Dark of the Moon" rockets across the screen on a massivetank overflowing with adrenaline-filled displays of unprecedentedopportunities to witness countless, mass detonations that areacrobatically engineered by all automatons; ranging from toy-sized botsprogrammed with an electrifying sense of humor to massively serpentinekilling-machines with razor-sharp extensions. This third installment, unlike the previous ones, uniquely delivers an eye-popping blow withits functionally entertaining 3D component that launches an unstoppablemissile of explosive fun. Other than the mesmerizing visuals ofjaw-dropping action sequences, "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" alsoreveals a satisfactory performance from Shia Labeouf and an alluringfemale substitute for the role of Sam Witwicky's girlfriend, fulfilledby Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. It is worth mentioning, however, therusty ignition engendered by the tediously damaging first few scenesand seemingly cloned storyline of saving humanity from "Decepticonic"pressures that nearly draw the action-packed momentum to a screechinghalt. Thankfully, these opposing forces are counteracted by thedazzling power of the unforgettably eruptive robot clashes. In short,Michael Bay successfully assembles the necessary parts to energize astate-of-the-art machine known for its visual effects.

I'm a hardcore transformers fan and just got home from from thecinemas. Got to say I am very disappointed and after Bay promising thismovie was going to be a big step up from the last 2, it never felt likeit.Michael Bay overdid this movie, he should have kept it simple. Heshould have known the factors which made the last 2 movies a successand re create it or at least include some of it but Dark of the Moontried to do too many things and failed to focus on the core.A small example, for any movie the soundtrack is a major part and I wassurprised to see it took an hour and half into the movie fortransformers trademark soundtrack. Last 2 movies they gave megoosebumps every time Optimus Prime entered the scene with backgroundmusic on, but this time around it was more like 'meh'. I always thought Megan Fox was just about looks, but the new girl madeMegan Fox's acting look very good. Graphics was overly well done.Probably the recent best movie in terms of action, explosion, robotsand cars but if you are a hardcore transformers fan, lower yourexpectation. Nevertheless you will definitely get your money worth atthe theater :)

I was expecting another terrible Transformers film due to the negativereviews and bad word of mouth however I was pleasantly surprised. Thething that made this film work was that it actually had a plot and thefighting had some reason, unlike the second one. I loved the wholeinvolvement of the moon and space adventure. Some of the actionsequences were immense, the stunts were amazing, out of this world. Theaction was really fun and kept you watching right till the end. Don'texpect Oscar worthy acting or scriptwriting but since when does anaction film have real substance in acting, not a bad thing but justfact. The new girl was OK, however by her character there were somemoments where women were painted in a negative light. Also there weresome glitches in the language which was not appropriate and also thecouple of sexual references were inappropriate, not explicit butheavily implicated. This tainted the quality of the film and wasunnecessary however the overall conclusion is that "Transformers: Darkof the Moon" is a great fun action adventure with killer moves and adecent plot.

I watched this movie with my child, and I can honestly say that this movie is at both times the darkest and most intense of the three movies, as well as the best. I felt that the first Transformers was merely an decent Summer blockbuster, the second was not quite as good, but this third one was honestly a sincerely good action movie. All Star Trek fans, or even those familiar with the movies alone, will want to look out for the character played by Leonard Nimoy, playing Optimus Prime's mentor and old leader, saying "You never learned that the good of the many outweighs the good of the few!". It's so blatant it's perfect, while it suits the situation wonderfully as well. This movie builds up gradually like the previous ones do, and yet when it reaches a climactic battle that would signal the end of a normal blockbuster (and, in this case, leave you hanging for a sequel) it continues on further- then, when it hits the top there, it goes yet even further. It stretches out quite long, while at the same time being quite satisfying on the action side and packed full of drama and tension. They truly take everything beyond what they have done before, and there is a clear picture in Chicago at one point, with two damaged buildings and one leaning towards the next, that pay homage to the twin towards- and a ratty American flag flying in tatters, but still flying. This is a movie that can indeed properly end the trilogy, and does so nobly and even better than it was started. The one greatest weakness? The heroine- clearly the original intention was to bring back the original girl from the first two, and so they try to rapidly attach you to a relationship that seems as grounded as the original one, but to us is new and unfounded. It is difficult to really care about this girl as much, or to understand why we should feel quite so good about her being around. Honestly, she could be taken out, and I wouldn't have worried too much. Not bringing back Sam's original love interest is the crucial failing of this movie- it would be solid otherwise. They stuff a new actress into a new role, and try to quickly patch it in- in time that could have better been used to further the rest of the story.I felt very good at the end, regardless- this is an intense movie, and while my little one is used to and very much into the action, realise there is time in the movie where you have a "war of the worlds" type scenario- with the decepticons wiping out massive amounts of people and disentegrating them clearly as you watch. While not bloody, it's intense, and could be traumatic to children- so know your child.

I'm not like other movie critics or movie watchers...I love asequel...bad or good if I liked the original I will keep coming back tosee the characters I love again and again but there is definitely acertain expectation that I have and the original Transformers film wasso brilliant and unique and took live action translations to a newlevel. Yes Michael Bay blew things up in a huge way but will anyone(especially kids from the eighties) forget the first time we sawOptimus Prime in live action in that first film? The problem was tryingto top that first film. Transformer 2 was so confusing and packed withmore robots than seemingly possible. Transformers 3: Dark of The Moontried to fix a lot of those mistakes and did well in some aspects. Ithink the issue with the third instalment wasn't even the robots butrather the people. The lead cast has just grown stale and Shia LaBeoufboyhood charm is now an overactive ego.LaBeouf went from a talent to watch in Holes to having an enormous egothat shows on screen. I don't think his career will last much longerbecause people see that ego and are turned off by it. Many peoplecomplained about Meghan Fox and her acting ability but compared to thenew underwear model they added to the cast, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley,Fox looks like Meryl Streep. Her ridiculous facial expressions (oftenmocked to great lengths on Youtube) and her simply awful acting ruinsthe story. John Turturro, who is a great actor, and is still good inthis is also bordering on being annoying and overdone as well which isunfortunate. The only redeeming performances are the most underused bythe military team consisting of Tyrese Gibson and Josh Duhamel. FrancesMcDormand joins the cast as the Secretary of Defense but doesn't reallyup the ante any, Patrick Dempsey's role is mostly pointless and onlyhelps at bringing out LaBeouf's star ego.Transformers 3 is not a total loss because once again the specialeffects are outstanding, the battle scenes are breath taking and seeingthe Transformers in action is just simply still cool. But you can seethe series starting to lose its steam and that really is a shame butI'm sure a reboot is just around the corner and I say go for it!! Butit might be time for Michael Bay to step back and let some fresh eyestook over the project. This is a must see for anyone who has alreadyfollowed the series this far. Special effects, and battle scenes willkeep you entertained but the human part of the film might leave abitter taste in your mouth. 7/10

I felt the first transformers movie was excellent. It was new, original, and simple in what it tried to accomplish. The same can notbe said for Dark of the Moon. What made this movie terrible was Bay'sattempt to appeal to a mass audience. He tried to make an action, horror, comedy, romance movie and unfortunately the end product wasextremely cheesy. Also, the movie had poor physics. How many times cana human being jump through panes of glass and not receive any cuts? Ifreely admit that I half expected this to be a bad movie and what I waslooking forward to was the 3D animation. However, even that lackedoriginality to it as it was simply debris flying everywhere as the 3Dshowcase. The one saving grace of this movie was LaBeouf's performance, who carried this movie on his back by creating a believable world ofmetal robots and bad actors and actresses. I will not be watchinganother Bay movie in my lifetime.

First of all, I would like to point out how predictable this film was.Considering the fact that it showed about 2 differences to the twoprevious films. You know, Sam's fine, he discovers a Decepticon plot, meets the Autobots, all seems lost, huge battle occurs, Optimus Primesaves the day. This, with a view slight variations, occurs in everyfilm. So, by this, I quickly deducted what would happen at the end, andI was not far off. Secondly, the seemingly never ending fight scene which just leaves yousitting there thinking "Does this actually end? Am I going to be herefor the rest of my life?", I lost track of how long it went on for, butI got the feeling at least 3 robots got killed more than once. It wasridiculous, it was dragged out and unnecessary. And the slow motion wascompletely off, it slowed at the stupidest points, and never added anyeffect to the fight.Third, as far as I know, Megatron has now been killed twice. I might bewrong but from what I remember, he got the All Spark pushed into himand killed him in the first one, then got a sword through the face inRevenge of the Fallen. It shows how dragged out these films are, Iliked the first movie, the second one was a mess and now Dark of theMoon has nearly ruined them all. I can only pray they don't try toresurrect it in the future with a fourth film. Awful, awful movie.

Transformers - Dark of the moon , doesn't come with great story but whocares . This is to be a great entertainer and it does justice to that .Right from the beginning , it provides you with humor , some drama andsplendid action sequences , that will just make your jaws drop in awe .The action is more live and kicking in 3d and is well choreographed .The soundtrack just adds to the great experience. With John Turturro(Simmons),John Malkovich adds on the fun element . Rosie whitely triesto fit in the shoes of Megan fox , but .... A creepy double crossingsleeping beauty turns out to be the villain and our Optimus doesn'thave much screen time like the earlier movies , but he still is theHERO and ends the movie with his usual punch lines and bids good-bye toa long time foe . Overall , a complete entertainer . Put your 3dglasses on and fight with the Auto-bots .

Michael Bay is certainly nothing short of an accidental auteurist! Withhis latest offering he takes the ockham's razor to the summerblockbuster, carving out the superfluous- story, characterization, etal, while distilling the necessary and tweaking his distinct Bay-ianaesthetic to a maximum to produce the purest testimony of an evidentcinematic apocalypse. Also worthy of interest is Bay's provocative depiction of the Britishbimb0. Her reduction to an object of the gaze is evident throughout thefilm. In one glorious shot where she scuttles to the telescope to viewthe enemy forces Bay cuts from this collagen prone bombshell(sic!) to afancy golden maned bitch seated on a similar chair passively viewingthe ensuing mayhem!Talk about free association! Such honesty andfearless purity of vision effectively transcends the entire camp ofcritical left field detractors! As a final note : I'm sure future post modernists shall hail this filmas the newest reincarnation of B-movie conventions . the 'b' now readas Blockbuster. Move over grind house! The CGI ridden future is here!
