Zookeeper is an absolutely entertaining film. Have no doubts aboutthat...But before I go on to review the film, I would like to say a thing ortwo about the so called professional reviewers of our online media. Each genre and each storyline will have a different yardstick dependingon what the film is setting out to achieve. Don't go looking for logicand 'intelligence' in a film when its primary motive is to make peoplelaugh and have a good time. And I will host a grand party the day Kevin James ditches Mr. FrankCoraci. That aside, Kevin James is a film which will make you feel good andhappy and Kevin James absolutely deserves credit for this. Hisperformance as Mr. Keyes is an absolute delight to watch and themannerisms will leave you in splits of laughter. And then, theperformance as Keyes is the icing on the cake.I wont say anything moreabout this as it will spoil the experience for you.Kevin James, take a bow. This is amongst your best performances to date. The new face of the film, Rosario Dawson deserves special mention forthe way she acted and carried off the role of Kate. There isinnocence, charm,a certain vulnerability and tenderness in the characterbut at the same time she can be quite a force to reckon with ifprovoked. And Dawson lived in the role. For a debutant, its amazing.Ken Jeong as usual was his excellent self as the best friend of Mr.Keyes and their moments on screen are truly rib tickling. The 'Zookeeper' song is very good and so is the background score. Itadds weight to the film and to the comedy. All the other songs arepretty decent. The way the zoo was shown is also very nice and the rich productionvalues of Frank Coraci films is clearly visible in each and everyframe. And finally, for the director. Welcome back Mr. Frank Coraci. We missedyou and we hope that you make movies a little more often than you do.Maybe, the ending could have been handled slightly better but then itsnot a major gripe. Some parts of the story may defy conventional logiclike the way Griffin Keyes manages to juggle his different 'careers'.But as I said earlier, these kinds of films are not about logic orintelligence. They are about making you laugh and have a good time andin that Zookeeper is eminently successful. All in all, Zookeeper is a very feel good film that you can go out andwatch with your whole family. 100% Paisa Vasool film

Kevin James is a hilarious and very talented man. But his recentchoices for films are absolutely horrible. Paul Blart= Stupid GrownUps= Great as a concept but turns our horribly stupid.Mr. James is not the only one we should be shaking our head indisapproval at. What about Adam Sandler and his horrible recent films. Not only the ones he stars in, but the ones he produces.Let's face it. Talking animals and obvious slap stick doesn't work. Ohhe ran into something, that's so funny! Ha ha! Oh the gorilla has heardof TGI Fridays! I've heard of TGI Fridays too! I'm so fat and stupid!Ha ha!The PG-13 comedies that come out these days with the same exact premisejust in a different place every time have grown very dull. They aren'tfunny. My advice to these people would be step out of the box and dosomething really good now! Or, quite while you're ahead. We love youAdam and Kevin, but not your recent movies.

This review is from: Zookeeper (DVD) The zookeeper is a good movie , not to be taken too seriously. If you just want to escape a hard day and laugh this is the movie for you. My Kids liked it too.(ages 13-6).It's entertaining not thought provoking. Overall it makes you feel good and you get a couple of laughs out of it. My kids especially liked the talking animal.

We went as a family to see this as part of my son's 12th birthdaytreat. I chose this as his choice was either the Smurfs (I'd ratherbath the cat!), Captain America or The Rise of the Planet of theApes...neither of which would have been suitable for my 8 year olddaughter. The reviews were mixed but it was the best of a rather badselection. However, we were pleasantly surprised and we all enjoyed it.It was a bit of a weak start and for us adults there were a few'cringe' moments but as a family film it was entertaining and humorous. We all came out of the cinema on a 'happy ending high' and the childrenwant to buy it as a DVD. Loved the gorilla moments and it was athoroughly enjoyable film.

Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of Kevin James. I loved King of Queens, Paul Blart, even had the odd laugh at Grown Ups (I won't mention The Dilemma), but this is one dumb movie. Sure, there are a couple of chuckle scenes, but most of the movie just entails prat falls and silly noises. Most movies have one annoying character, Star Wars had Jar Jar Binks, Lion King had Timone, this has a little monkey called Donald (He needs to find a new agent by the way, as the other movie he was in this year was The Hangover Part II). I just couldn't quite put my finger on why he was so annoying until I discovered who played his voice then it all made sense - Adam Sandler!Surprisingly, Sylvester Stallone, Nick Nolte, John Favreau and even Cher have voice overs in this giant cow pat of a film, but it doesn't help, unfortunately.

My 5-year old daughter wanted to go to the drive-in. To my horror, thisKevin James movie was playing. I asked if she'd rather cover daddy withhoney and unleash a few thousand fire ants on me. No deal. Had I hadany idea how absolutely awful this movie was, I would have keptnegotiating.Right from the get-go, the story is so unengaging that a blank screenwould have been preferable to the inanity that was displayed on it. Mydaughter tuned out after about 10 minutes and found the complimentaryrefrigerator magnet provided by the theatre more interesting.Nevertheless, we were all captive at this point and rather than stareat the speedometer for an hour I decided to stare at the colorfulmoving pictures in front of me.Bad choice. There was not a single scene that evoked any sort ofemotion. If there was an attempt at humor I missed it. The only thingthat could be construed as remotely humorous was the fact that thewriters (again) thought that this fat blob of idiocy (Kevin James)would have not one, but multiple beautiful women compete for him. Iused the time to imagine the demographic to which this movie wouldappeal. Anyone with a frontal lobe or more than two functional senseswould immediately be excluded. During one particular scene wheresomething funny was supposed to have happened, I think I heard anorangutan a few cars away from us let out a guffaw, no doubt droolingsome of his chaw onto his beer-belly stretched, bacon-stained, DaleEarnhardt t-shirt. I drew a mental image of the guy in my head andchuckled to myself, so I guess I can't say the movie was entirelyhumorless. In summary, I can't believe anyone had so little pride in themselves asto allow their name to be listed in the credits. Had I taken part andsomeone said to me "Didn't I see your name listed in the credits for"Zookeeper?" I'd say "Uh, no, but I was listed as a sexual predator ona neighborhood watchlist - that's what you're likely thinking of."

Watching this monstrosity of a movie i actually felt dumber. I had seenthe trailers prior to watching the film, and i admit i went in with lowexpectations. But I left extremely disappointed. The story line seemedto have died about 5 minutes into the film, From what i assume thismovie is intended for and age group of 3-6 years of age. Theunfortunate thing is that even for someone of that age there isliterally no humor in the entire film. It's like if you made a movieall about fart jokes, and keep it going for and hour and thirtyminutes. Why was this movie necessary, The characters are forgettable, the storyline is flat, all aspects considered the movie is plain godawful.

Don't bother bringing the kids; the movie isn't intended to entertainthem. It's a romantic comedy with the gimmick of talking zoo animals. So how is it on its own merits? The plot is utterly predictable: boyfalls in love with girl, girl rebukes him, years later they reconnect, boy finds girl doesn't suit him and he finds someone else he had knownall along who was more his type. The animals break their code ofsilence to help him because they like him so much, though their adviceis of little help to Griffin. Only the gorilla ends up providing realhelp to Griffin by helping to intercept his intended girl before shecan leave him forever. There is some (but fortunately not excessive)scatological humor, and others that rely on pratfall comedy.Overall: mildly entertaining for adults, but not really witty orexciting.

Greetings again from the darkness. We are all fine with the endlessstream of animation featuring talking animals. The rules change a bitwhen the movie is live action ... and the animals still talk! Not onlydo they talk, but they are giving lessons in love to zookeeperextraordinare Griffin (Kevin James) ala Dr. Phil.Personally I think Kevin James is more suited to television, but it'shard to argue with the huge box office success of Paul Blart Mall Cop.This movie isn't quite as creative as that one, but for mindlesssummertime fun in an air-conditioned environment and a kid-friendlytheme, it works OK.The kid-friendly theme is somewhat misleading. To me, it's the greatestflaw of the movie. It can't seem to decide if it wants to be a kidsmovie or a "clever" film for kids that adults will enjoy. I don't thinkmost adults will enjoy it and I think most kids will be confused andbored by the adult plot of helping Kevin James land the girl.If you are going to have talking animals these days, you must have highpriced voices ... even though you can't recognize them. Some of thevocal talent on display includes Sylvestor Stallone and Cher as lions,Nick Nolte as the gorilla, Jupp Apatow as an elephant, producer AdamSandler as the monkey ("throw poop"), Faizon Love and Jon Favreau asarguing bears, Maya Rudolph as an off-key giraffe, and Don Rickles as afrog. The story is this: Kevin James is a nice guy zookeeper who is loved bythe animals, but spurned in marriage by his girlfriend Leslie Bibb. Heworks with nice gal Rosario Dawson who likes him so much that sheagrees to help him get the shallow Bibb back. Other zoo co-workersinclude Donnie Wahlberg and Ken Jeong, who must be in every third moviereleased this year. Yada, Yada, Yada ... animals give advice, KevinJames learns about real love, gorilla learns some people can betrusted, they all live happily ever after. I don't consider that aspoiler. The movie is produced by Adam Sandler and directed by his buddy FrankCoraci. Coraci also directed a comedy I kind of like (The WeddingSinger) and a couple I absolutely couldn't stand (Click, The Waterboy).Anyway, if you are looking for mindless fun with the family, this oneis safe though not inspired.

I was pretty skeptical of this movie at first glance. I mean c'mon, talking animals? It couldn't be THAT good. After watching the movie I have most definitely changed my view. This movie had me laughing from beginning to end! In fact, I enjoyed it so much I watched it again the same evening with my family of four, and they all loved it just as much as I did! I highly recommend this movie to anyone who has an open mind and is ready to laugh until you cry! Kevin James continues to be one funny guy!

This movie is a must see! I loved this movie from the start to end. It kept me laughing nonstop. The storyline, animals and actors in this movie were awesome. If I had to pick a favorite scene it would be Gorilla and James at TGI Fridays. It was too funny for words! I am a huge fan of Mr. James and glad he made this film.

After seeing this movie the first thing i have to say that the story isa bit sloppy yeah the idea it self is good but i didn't think that itwas written well. In my opinion the message is great for the childrenyou have to be who you are but it could have been written in a muchmore good way, even the acting in some point got very cheesy andshallow like when griffin realized that he didn't feel good in the newhim and didn't like the changes he made so when he decided to confronthis girl friend i felt that he was like OK guys lets get with thisscene and move on you know i didn't feel it this scene was supposed tobe emotional Kevin should have given this scene a better attempt. Onthe other hand the movie was fun and i enjoyed it and i really like theidea of the movie I'm what I'm take it or just go to hell, and thisadvice just came in the right time, as a family movie its as great onego see it and just have fun.

So maybe you hated Paul Blart: Mall Cop. Maybe you're sick of KevinJames in The King of Queens. Maybe you saw the trailer and thought,"Night at the Museum rip-off!" right after you thought, "This is ajoke, right?" I will admit that I held all of these accusations againstZookeeper when I entered the theater, but one thing I've learned isthat preemptive decisions to not see a comedy simply because you thinkyou have a grudge against it is BAD BAD BAD. I can understand if peoplecan't stand Kevin James's frenetic humor IF YOU WATCHED IT, but over400 votes of "1 star" a week before the movie is even released showssome shameful attitudes among IMDb voters. Purposeful down-voting isnever justified, and is especially a disservice to Zookeeper, whichactually turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Roger Ebert put it best when he said: "Look, a great movie this is not.A pleasant summer entertainment it is." The moments that make an awfulcomedy awful are the ones when you feel like burying your face in yourhands and wishing you never saw a second of this movie. You can allthink of those times, I'm sure. Personally, Zookeeper NEVER gave me oneof those moments. The plot was a breath of innocent fresh air andmanaged to keep me interested in the movie. The romantic tensions inPaul Blart: Mall Cop were ridiculously exaggerated, but in Zookeeperwere quite low-key. The same goes for Kevin James's boyish, freneticacting; James has an inherent likability about him that really carriesthe weight of the film. Be it puppets, animation, or real animalmovement, the zoo animals were impressive as well and sported someconvincing lip-dialogue sync that you wouldn't expect to find in amovie like this. With a varied cast that will keep you guessing at whovoices who, the animals are the second great half of the show. This isa family film aimed at innocent, happy-go-lucky moviegoers and you knowit - so if you're looking at a pleasant and light time at the theater,Zookeeper is the one to check out this weekend. But if you want thetypical Hollywood explosions, then grab three extra dollars and headdown to see Transformers 3 in 3D instead.

I can see why people are getting fed up with Kevin James. He seems tobe doing the same thing and his jokes seem to be repeated. Then again, that didn't stop Adam Sandler from becoming famous nor his films frombeing successful (Punch Drunk Love and a few others aside that is).Speak of the devil: Mr. Sandler is a producer and therefor has a"saying" (literally too) in the movie. It's pretty standard fare and I have to admit I wasn't expecting toomuch to start with so I wasn't really disappointed (my niece on theother hand was quite disappointed, telling me all the things she didn'tlike about the movie). It's really a family film, but not a very goodone, bare that in mind.

Director Frank Coraci seemed to have dumbed down his filmography, bringresponsible for comedies like The Wedding Singer, The Waterboy andClick, all starring Adam Sandler, to relative duds like Around theWorld in 80 Days, and somehow Zookeeper straddles closer to being muchof a miss, though it follows the standard formulaic procedure of aromantic comedy where the guy tries ever so hard to woo that girl ofhis dreams, only that the girl, well, is seriously not worth it.Kevin James once again plays a self deprecating role as Griffin Keyesthe titular zookeeper, and opens the film with a disastrous proposal tohis girlfriend Stephanie (Leslie Bibb) who rejects him outright becauseof his profession. How anyone can do that is beyond me, because it'snot as if it's the first day of knowing that fella, but so it goes, andpainted the picture of someone after wealth and status, which accordingto Griffin's soon to be married brother Dave (Nat Faxon) is something awoman like Stephanie would prefer. A job offer at his brother's exoticcar showroom would mean Griffin leaving a job that is his calling, andthe animals of the zoo have to plot to ensure Griffin stays to care forthem. And that meant an accidental revelation that they can all speakEnglish, fluently, and possess a keen sense of humour, sort of,spending plenty of time bickering than to come up with concrete plansto help our protagonist, and even then, offer tips more suited for theanimal world, which allows for some pretty awkward moments, thoughfirmly kept in family friendly territory. In some ways it's similar toNight at the Museum, with the museum pieces coming alive at night, andin the same vein, the animals gather in town hall like fashion when thelast patron and caretaker leave the premises to partake in some idlechatter.Voiced by recognizable folks such as Nick Nolte as the emo GorillaBernie who might be more suited in Rise of the Planet of the Apes, AdamSandler as Donald the Monkey Sylvester Stallone as Joe the Lion whofantasizes about being king of the jungle, Cher as the Lioness, JonFavreau and Faizon Lowe as a pair of Bears, and Maya Rudolph as Molliethe Girraffe, and a whole host of other voices, you'd come to expectthat there would be at least some wisecracking animals to liven up themood and add to the sporadic laughter caused from a rather tirednarrative, but tough luck, there was too little of that.Instead, what we got are the usual rote narrative development whereGriffin painfully tries so hard to regain the affections of someone soundeserving and shallow, though some may argue it's natural selectionlike in the Animal Kingdom where the mate will choose from thestrongest of her suitors, with Griffin being in competition with yetanother braggart ex- boyfriend (Joe Rogan) of Stephanie's. In some waysit touches upon contemporary strategies usually involving another hotwoman, and Griffin's choice to induce jealousy is that of his fellowzoo co-worker Kate (Rosario Dawson), whom you can stay 10 steps aheadto know how what should be role-playing, would turn out to be.With an ensemble such as the underused Ken Jeong as Venom the reptilehouse zookeeper and Donnie Wahlberg as the token keeper with a sadisticstreak, both of whom should have seen more screen time, Zookeeper iswhat you would label as an average family entertainer, playing it verysafe just like how one would view a zoo exhibit, encased behind a rigidstructure that provides plenty of the same, and none of the surprises.

This is a family friendly movie that deserves to be seen, for its goodacting from its great cast of actors, and ahem, the 'animal kingdom' .Comedy is a plus here and we get it in spades from the very openingscene which sets the scene for the rest of the movie as it takes us fora 'ride' into laughter. The CG in this movie depicted by the adorable animals, is first rateand helps set the immersive mood. The poignant story moves the viewer from Zoo elation, to zoo care, andall the way back again as respect and admiration for our zany butadorable protagonist; all this encased in bright clever humor withstyle and depth, which makes you really feel for the characters anddraws you into the plot.If you like to laugh and who doesn't, - and enjoy decent family fun, then this is a winner.

I went into Zookepper with my family not expecting much, as i knew itwas a kid's movie and nothing special, but the movie was a failure, even as a family film.my 3 kids, aged 7, 4 and 3 actually got bored and started to fidget andtalk in the theatre out of boredom. as for me, i could not stand themovie at all, there was nothing interesting about it at all.A few weeks back we also watched Mr Popper's Penguins, which was also akid's movie, but it was much much better than this drivel. at least thestory had flow and Jim Carrey is a much better actor than Kevin Jameswill ever be.the Zookeepr's story had no flow to it, it was like a bunch ofsupposedly funny scenes mixed together incoherently rather than a wholeconnected film. nothing interesting happens in the movie, just talktalk talk, and the dialog was just terrible, and the Animals werereally boring and not funny at all, no wonder my kids got boredquickly. not to mention it was obvious that the animals were not reallytalking, and that it was CGI.bad story, slow paced plot, boring dialog, bad acting, awful CGIs andridiculous scenes make this the worst film of 2011 so far.my 4 years old girl actually asked to leave the theater about 2/3 theway, and i was more than happy to leave with her, while my wife stayedwith the other two to finish this awful film. she told me the endingwas not good either.take my advice, avoid this at all costs, not even worth a DVD rental.
